Romijn knows a thing or two about being painted head-to-toe: She was the first model painted for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, and she endured eight hours of makeup a day to be transformed into Mystique in the "X-Men" films. As shape-shifting mutant Mystique, Romijn was fully covered in layers of blue body paint. She said she was often brought in at midnight to begin the painting process so she could make it to the set by 9 a. And a side effect of all that paint? A trail of it wherever she went. It was reported that Jennifer Lawrence, who took over the role of Mystique in the recent "X-Men" reboot, wore a body suit because the body paint irritated her skin. Romijn shared her thoughts on the shortcut:. I love sharing that role with that girl.
Rebecca Romijn stopped by ET to chat about her new show Skin Wars and why she's perfectly comfortable being photographed nude in body paint. Skin Wars season one winner Natalie Fletcher painted Rebecca as a tigress in one of the show's promos, which the year-old admitted went better than she even imagined. It used to take forever. The first time I was ever painted for Sports Illustrated took 12 hours. The first time they did my makeup test for X-Men was 12 hours. The actress wore body paint and scaly prosthetics to play Mystique in Marvel's X-Men. While the prospect of appearing nude on the big screen might bring sweaty palms to some, Rebecca told ET there was nothing unnerving about it. When you're painted, you feel completely covered up," Rebecca said.

ET: What are some surprises we can expect from season three of "Skin Wars ," which premiered last week? Rebecca Romijn: The show is about transformation and our producers are great at coming up with amazingly creative challenges. My two favorite this season? One is an underwater challenge. It required a lot of sealing of the paint, but it turned outso beautiful. My other favorite is a breast cancer survivor challenge. We brought in young breast cancer survivors and painted them as warriors. It was such a moving experience for everyone.
